DLA Phillips Fox – Precedents Administrator
Assisting Firm Precedents Manager and 2 Precedents Lawyers

Duties:

  • Participated in the rebranding of up to 7,000 precedents held in Firm precedent collection after Firm name change;
  • Responsible for updating of Court Forms held in precedents collection (numbering in excess of 6,000 documents);
  • Responsible for updating of Tribunal Forms held in precedents collection;
  • Responsible for updating Firm Knowledge Bank collection (numbering in excess of 2,000 documents);
  • Assist in the addition of new internal Firm precedents after approval by Precedents Lawyer;
  • Responsible for preparation of Agenda for Team Meetings as well as taking minutes and preparing typed Minutes for distribution to Precedents Team;
  • Responsible for answering Precedent queries from all staff where possible or arranging for appropriate Precedents Lawyer to answer any queries where necessary; and
  • Responsible for all administration duties for the Precedents Team including but not limited to answering telephone queries, accounts payable, updating team leave calendar, travel and preparation of training manuals and materials for Firm staff precedent training.

Legal Support Secretarial Role within the State Rail Authority Legal Department.  During this time I acted in numerous positions to improve my skills.  The work was primarily workers’ compensation orientated.  The Legal Department was then privatised and the legal division largely wound up.  I really wanted to stay in the legal field and chose to move on to a legal company.
